Terms of service

The service
SmartTrace is traceability software provided by SmartChef Limited ("we") to food businesses ("you") as a monthly subscription. You get access to the phone app and desktop for as long as your subscription is active.
Free trial
New accounts are set up with us on a call, free of charge, and can then use SmartTrace free for 7 days without a card. If you don't subscribe after the trial, the account is paused. We keep your records for 30 days so you can return or request an export, then delete them.
Price and payment
The price is €25 a month plus VAT where applicable, charged monthly in advance by card through a Stripe subscription we set up with you. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of any price change, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
Money back guarantee
If you cancel within 30 days of your first payment, we'll refund that payment in full. Email us to claim it.
Cancelling
Cancel at any time by email or phone. You won't be charged again, and you keep access until the end of the month you've paid for. Records are kept for 30 days after that for export, then deleted.
Your records and your responsibilities
The records you enter are yours. You're responsible for their accuracy and for meeting your own food law obligations; SmartTrace is a tool that helps you keep and find records, not a guarantee of compliance. Keep your login details private and tell us if you think an account has been misused.
Our responsibilities
We'll keep the service available, secure and backed up, and fix problems promptly. We'll give notice of planned maintenance where we can. If the service is unavailable for a significant period through our fault, we'll credit you for it.
Limits
We're not liable for losses that arise from inaccurate records you've entered, from your use of the service in breach of these terms, or for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to you in any year is limited to the fees you paid us in that year. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change matters, we'll email you before it takes effect.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland.
